Brachiaplasty (Arm Lift)

This procedure is known as an arm lift and can either be done by itself or in conjunction with liposuction. There are a few techniques, but in both cases there are scars that may be noticeable depending on the clothing worn. One procedure is for hanging skin near armpit and will leave a scar in this area. The other, which is more common and addresses loose skin and fat to the elbow, will have an incision from armpit to elbow. The scars will often widen and may become thick at times. There is no exercise that will tighten this "wing," as patients refer to the hanging soft tissue. Only an excision of skin and fat will remove the excess, but in some less severe cases just liposuction will reduce a majority of the excess fat. This may suffice for many patients and leaves only a tiny scar at the elbow.
