Lower Body Lifts

Medial (Inner) Thigh Lift

Like the arm lift, it too has two procedures; however, the more common one, which usually suffices for most people, results with a scar in the fold of the groin and leaves the thigh devoid of any scars. If, however, there is excess skin all the way to the knee, then a vertical scar may be necessary, but usually this is not the case in most people seeking improvement in this area.

Lateral (Outer) Thigh Lift & Lower Body Lift

This can also be done a number of ways with the incision at the buttocks crease or at the waist line where the buttock and thigh will be lifted and is usually known as a lower body lift. This procedure usually is preceded by an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) months before, but may be done at the same time in some cases. These are very long procedures and can often limit postoperative mobility. So for safety, time in operating room, and functionality of the patient, they are often done in stages over a number of months.

Complications can be bleeding, infections, skin necrosis (area of skin that doesn't heal), chronic extremity swelling, thick scars and neuralgias (burning sensation). Most of these are not serious and are self limiting. Pulmonary Embolism, which is when blood clots leave deep veins and go to the lung, can be very serious. We have certain procedures in place to minimize such risks and, as such, this complication is extremely rare.

The results of these body lifts are very gratifying and help to improve the patients self image and esteem. Occasional minor revisions are necessary and can usually be done at the time of a subsequent staged procedure or under local anesthesia.
